Safer Homes for adults
How we help
We offer free home safety, fire safety and security assessments for eligible adults, as well as a paid for small jobs service for all Hammersmith and Fulham residents.

Safer Homes support
Keeping people safe at home
We offer free home safety, fire safety and security assessments to adults living with disabilities and older adults 65 and over living in Hammersmith and Fulham. Necessary work is carried our free of charge to minimise the risk of an accident, house fire or burglary.
Small jobs
We provide a skilled handyperson to carry out jobs such as fitting door and window locks, putting up shelves, building flat packed furniture and hanging doors.
The cost is £50 per hour (inclusive of VAT and parking) plus the cost of materials. There is a minimum charge of 1 hour.
A discount is given to people receiving a means tested benefit. This service is run as a social enterprise so any surplus is re-invested into the charity and used to assist those in need in the local area. This service is available to all H&F residents.
Safer Homes for families and children
How we help
Every year 40,000 children under 5 are admitted to hospital after having an accident at home. Safer Homes can help families in Hammersmith and Fulham make their homes safer for under 5s and all children living with disabilities.
This service is free for families living in Hammersmith and Fulham who receive a means tested benefit and have a child under the age of 5 or living with a disability.
All our staff are fully trained and DBS checked.

Care & Repair
How we help
Care & Repair is a home improvement agency specialising in disability adaptations. We help people with a disability, including children, and vulnerable older people. The type of work carried out is wide ranging, including ground floor extensions, ramps, level access showers, stair lifts, door widening and kitchen adaptations.
We use approved contractors to ensure good quality work and provide feasibility assessments, help with design, and checking and follow-up. If eligible, we can apply for a disabled facilities grant from the local authority.
We operate in boroughs across west and central London. We work in partnership with a range of housing providers, including registered social landlords.
