Meet our new CEO Jamie Ward-Smith

I’m delighted to be writing this as the new CEO of the Creighton Centre.
It’s a huge privilege to join an organisation with such deep roots in the community and a history that stretches back over 100 years. From the earliest women’s support groups held in our halls in the 1890s to the vital services we run today for older people and adults with learning disabilities, the Creighton Centre has long been a place of care, connection and community.
Throughout my career I’ve been so lucky to work in roles that champion people and communities, whether that’s through digital innovation, youth and volunteer engagement, social enterprise or investing in communities so they have the resources they need to connect and thrive. Each role has deepened my belief in the power of connection and the importance of places that bring people together. That’s exactly what drew me to the Creighton Centre. A shared commitment to inclusion, respect and community where everyone, regardless of age or background, feels seen, supported and valued. And as a former Hammersmith & Fulham resident stepping into this role truly feels like coming home!
At a time when loneliness and isolation, especially amongst older people and those with disabilities, is practically an epidemic charities like ours are more critical than ever. We’re not just a service provider, we’re a lifeline, even a second home to some, but most importantly we are a place where communities meet, friendships form and generations come together to support each other.

I’m so excited to work alongside such a brilliant team of staff, volunteers, trustees and supporters. Together we’ll build on the incredible legacy of those who came before us and ensure that the Creighton Centre continues to be a vital part of community life for generations to come.
If you’d like to get involved, partner with us, or simply come and see what we’re all about, we’d love to welcome you!
Jamie Ward-Smith, MBE, CEO at The Creighton Centre
