Celebrating 120 Volunteers Who Make Our Work Possible

NEWS

Thank You to Our Volunteers!

As Volunteers’ Week 2026 draws to a close, everyone at The Creighton Centre would like to say a heartfelt thank you to our incredible team of 120 volunteers.

Throughout the year, our volunteers give their time, skills, energy and compassion to support people across all of our services. They visit isolated older people at home, make telephone befriending calls, support people living with dementia, help adults with learning disabilities build confidence and independence, assist people recovering after illness or falls, support community events, provide a welcoming face at reception and contribute countless hours behind the scenes.

Each year our volunteers donate more than 10,000 hours of support and care. Their contribution helps us connect hundreds of older neighbours through Homeline, deliver activities for adults with learning disabilities, support people to remain safe and independent in their homes and create a welcoming community hub used by thousands of local residents.

Every conversation, visit, activity, phone call and act of kindness helps make our community stronger.

Jelena Radusinovic, Volunteer Co-ordinator at The Creighton Centre, said:

For this Volunteer Week, I would just like to take a moment to reflect on the kindness, love and contribution of our wonderful volunteers over the years, without whom our work simply would not be possible!

I feel so lucky to have had the opportunity to meet some amazing people through my work and to see how small acts of kindness and compassion can change someone’s life and make a huge difference to older people, who are often overlooked and forgotten in society.

My heartfelt thanks go to all our unsung heroes who give their time week after week, year after year. Witnessing such kindness inspires me every day and drives me to continue our mission of making a difference.

Jamie Ward-Smith, CEO of The Creighton Centre, said:

“Our volunteers are the heart of The Creighton Centre. Their generosity, kindness and commitment enable us to support some of the most vulnerable people in our community. Whether they give an hour a week or many hours each month, their contribution changes lives. On behalf of everyone at The Creighton Centre, I would like to thank each and every one of our 120 volunteers for everything they do. We simply could not deliver our services without them.”

Volunteers’ Week gives us an opportunity to celebrate and recognise the remarkable people who make our work possible. While the week may be coming to an end, our appreciation for our volunteers continues every day of the year.

To all our volunteers: thank you for being part of The Creighton Centre and for helping us build a community where people feel connected, supported and valued.
