VOLUNTEERING

Volunteers are at the heart of The Creighton Centre

There are many people living in Hammersmith & Fulham who experience social isolation through circumstances beyond their control – due to ageing, ill health and disability, the death of friends or family etc. By volunteering with us you can enable isolated people to renew social contact and access the things in life which we all need to stay happy – friendship, new opportunities, new learning, access to transport, access to better leisure, health and care services.

Without your skills, enthusiasm and commitment, we simply couldn’t do the work we do. Our volunteers work with older people, adults with learning disabilities and with our community centre members.

All our volunteers receive induction training, a DBS check and ongoing support & supervision.

Please see below for more details on our current volunteer roles and how you could make a positive impact today.

Learning Disability Outreach volunteer

Volunteer mentor

People with learning disabilities face a variety of barriers in everyday life which can prevent them from fulfilling their true potential. Developing personal goals, social networks and learning to make choices in life are things that many people take for granted; for a person with learning disabilities they can seem like difficult things to achieve.

A mentor can help by working closely with an individual ‘mentee’ to help them achieve their personal goals. Whether it’s being able to travel independently, find work, manage money or build confidence, mentors can make a real difference to the lives of their mentees.

Availability/commitment: Mentors and mentees meet once every fortnight for a few hours. This can be flexible and take place in the evenings or at weekends.

Location: At The Creighton Centre and in the community.

The Creighton Centre: reception volunteer

Our community centre is a very friendly space with lots of different groups and clubs meeting throughout the day.  We are looking for volunteers who would be responsible for greeting visitors to the centre, dealing with enquiries about different projects run by The Creighton Centre and assisting with simple administrative tasks.

Availability/commitment:

Volunteers should be available for 2 hours each week, either morning or afternoon slots, Monday to Friday.

Location: The Creighton Centre.
